I am from

I am from the mirrored room
with the long wood bars.
I am from the sea salt pool
with the dead brown toads.

I am from the days with
ladybugs,
From golden leaves and
wrestling matches.

I am from pickles with peanut-
butter, with bananas
and cheese,
From rice pudding and mellow
yellow.
I am from teacher and nurse,
From love you always to toughen
up.

I am from a place of no return,
A place with hiding spots and
strawberry plants.

I am from the ground, the
sea:
and the sky.
